Hysteroscopy

When conducting an evaluation of female fertility, your infertility specialist at DFW Center for Fertility & IVF may suggest a hysteroscopy. This procedure offers a detailed view inside the uterus using a medical-sized telescope, fiber optic light and camera. This hysteroscope is inserted into the womb through the vagina and cervix and is considered a type of minimally invasive approach. Dr. Beshay will consult with you to explain when and why any hysteroscopy should be done, but in some cases this procedure is recommended after your hysterosalpingogram (HSG) has already indicated the presence of uterine abnormalities.

Some fertility problems connected with abnormal uterus include:

  • Uterine fibroids
  • Adenomyosis
  • DES
  • Congenital abnormalities
  • Asherman’s syndrome
